Green Smoothie Cleanse: Cleanse #2

I am once again going to do JJ Smith’s Green Smoothie Cleanse but this time I am going to finish it. I attempted my first cleanse last year and I made it to day 4. This time I will complete all 10 days no failure come what may. I want to detox my body of birth control and replenish it with nutrients and I know this cleanse can accomplish that. Plus it won’t hurt to lose a few pounds as well. I will report back with an update on my progress and how things are going in a few days! Help hold me accountable y’all!

Welcome Home Soldier!

I have been MIA for awhile because…MY SOLDIER IS HOME!!! He was deployed for 9 months to Iraq and we have been reintegrating and connecting for the past 2 weeks and I’m loving every minute of having him home! As some of you know, I originally started this blog to track my weight release journey during this deployment. Well, deployment is over and stats are in. I released a total of 24 pounds and 37 inches. My inches were significant and I’m happy about the pounds as well. Just because my husband is home doesn’t mean my journey is over. It is definitely continuing with him by my side. We are going on vacation in a months time so my next goal is 15 more pounds released by vacation.

I have discovered that my limit with a green juice or smoothie cleanse is 3 days. After day 3 I’m like “GIVE ME FOOD 😩”, so I am learning ways to continue my cleanse without breaking the fast and going crazy after 3 days. I am loving cinnamon sprinkled apples with melted peanut butter as a snack and I’m excited about trying cauliflower pizza! Help your girl out and comment your favorite healthy snacks and foods below!

Last Minute Victory

Hi everyone! So as you know I started this blog to track my weight loss journey while my husband is deployed. Well it’s almost time for him to come home and I’m on the final countdown to get off as much weight as I can for his homecoming. I have been flirting with the same weight since November (a 15-20lb weight loss) but I know my body fat composition has changed tremendously because I’ve lost several as in over 40 inches. I have a waistline again and curves (without the body shaped or spanx 🙌🏾). I attempted the smoothie cleanse again but I fell off again so this time my nutritionist recommended juicing so I’m on a modified juice fast with snacks in between to fuel my workouts. This starts day 3 for me and I’m on this fast for 10 or more days. I’m going to complete it on the simple motivation that I’m just about out of time. For some reason I’m a procrastinator who works better under pressure. I’ve read lots of blogs about juicing fasts and majority of the people gained their weight back. I pray I don’t because I’m finally over this plateau and would really love to heb under 200lbs before our upcoming Jamaica trip. I’ve juiced before but not as a fast. Just as a way to add raw nutrition to my diet but Joe Cross has had me interested in a Reboot for quite some time now. In case anyone is wondering, the juices do fill me up and I’m drinking 3 juices a day with nuts, boiled eggs, fruit, and a few veggie chips for snacks; however, I don’t snack very often. I will have to have a banana and a boiled egg or two tonight because I have H.I.I.T class and I don’t want to pass out. That would be horrific.

Results So Far…

Day 1: -4lbs

Day 2: -1.8lbs

Total: -5.8lbs

I am shooting for a 10-15 pound weight release by the morning of day 10. As always I will let you know how it goes….and this time for real for real because I have no choice but to complete it.

Untitled (In My Feelings)

This journey has been tough. I’ve cried. I’ve wanted to give up. The scale has not been my friend at all. I’ve lost no where near the weight I’ve wanted to lose in this amount of time and I know exactly why because my eating hasn’t always been what it needs to be. There is no disguising it or dressing it up. You cannot out exercise a bad diet. I’ve spent countless days and hours in the gym only to have minor progress when it comes to the dropping weight side. I’ve released lots of inches but I’m still way over 200 pounds and not very happy about it. To top it off, I’ve ate right all week and have put on 2 pounds. I know I know don’t listen to the scale it doesn’t define you. There are many other factors to weight release. I understand that but I just want to see 199 like yesterday. I just don’t know anymore at this point.

10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse: Day 1

Day one’s smoothie was pretty good! This was the first time I have ever had a smoothie with water as the liquid base (I normally use apple or orange juice) but it wasn’t bad at all. In addition to three smoothies a day, low sodium tuna, raw hard vegetables (carrots, celery, cucumber, etc), raw nuts, boiled eggs, unsweetened peanut butter, and apples are allowed. I was actually pretty full most of the day; however, I did have a battle in my mind around 3 or 4 o’clock talking myself down from my usual carby snacks such as crackers and anything sweet. I did eat too many nuts today but in not beating myself up because I didn’t verify how many were allowed before eating. It is only supposed to be a handful and not half a bag 😳. It was a small bag. Now that I know and can correct my mistakes, I’m really looking forward to successfully reaching Day 10! I did not exercise today because I didn’t make it to the gym because of appointments and I was tired when I got home, which is normal during a detox, so I allowed my body today to rest so that I can be ready to shake my boo-tay in Zumba tomorrow 😂😂. As always I will keep you posted!

10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse Jumpstart

For the past year and a half or so, I have been watching documentaries on Netflix regarding health and what we should be eating and the benefits of a plant-based diet. After finishing a documentary last night, I ran across the 10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse by JJ smith and I decided to give it a try. I have nothing to lose but weight and a lot to gain like a healthier body and fabulous skin! I am starting tomorrow with the support of my mother and my cousin. The benefits of this cleanse is a 10-15 pound weight release, detoxification, healthier skin, and more. This definitely won’t be a walk in the park for me mentally or emotionally but I am ready to push through and show myself that I am stronger than I give myself credit for and I am worth it, my health is worth it, and my family is worth it. Countdown

If you are just now tuning in to my blog, I started this blog to share my weight release journey while my husband was deployed. Well, time is dwindling down and I have released 25 pounds, over 20 inches, and lowered my body fat percentage by over 15%. Although I will not reach my goal before “The Big Leap”, I plan to be over halfway there by that time. My new shorterm goal is to release 30 more pounds before “The Big Leap” and although it will be a challenge, it is definitely an obtainable goal. In order to get results I have not gotten I have to push harder and do things I have not done and I am up for the challenge. As always I will keep you posted!

If You Don’t Quit, You’ll Win

I have been on my fitness journey for a little over 5 months now and I am so very proud of myself. I cannot even remember a time when I’ve stayed on a fitness program or weight loss attempt for an entire month, and here I am 5 months in and counting. I have lost 20 pounds as well as several inches and even better, I’m stronger, I’m faster, and most importantly I’m NOT a quitter! I’ve even gained muscle! I can jog a mile and a half without stopping (and counting), which is great because I’ve never been more than a walker. I’m growing mentally and shrinking physically! I’m making better choices for myself and my family and I’m happier all around. I’m confronting the reasons why I’ve been overeating and binge eating all of these years and learning other ways to cope with stress and emotions. I am leaning on God to give me strength especially in those times when I feel like I can’t or don’t want to continue with this process. I can finally look into the mirror without turning away in disgust or just imagining that I look the same way I looked before the babies came or even high school and I can actually see my body changing. My waist is shrinking and my curves are reappearing. I am changing from the inside out and that my friends is the way to permanently make a lifestyle change. Lifestyle is so important to me because once I release the desired amount of weight, I will NOT be gaining it back. I am learning to deal with my emotions and stress in ways that do not include food and I am ready to add supplements to my routine to enhance my results. As always I will keep you guys updated!

Protein, Protein, & More Protein

When I think of protein, the first thing that comes to my mind is body building. Over the past few years I’ve seen my husband increase his protein when he wanted to gain muscle, so when my trainer told me to increase my protein I was confused. Muscles are nice but I want to lose fat and tone not build muscle. That is when I did some research and found out how important protein is for fat loss. During weight loss, the body burns fat and muscle. When there is more protein present, the body focuses on burning fat. Protein also keeps you fuller longer and repairs muscles as you strength train. These are just a few of the many benefits of having a high protein diet.

In order to increase my protein, I started looking for protein shakes. As I was browsing, I noticed that a lot of the shakes were reviewed as having a horrible taste and I don’t eat anything my taste buds don’t agree with, and that’s when I remembered that I have plant protein on hand by Nutrilite (http://www.amway.com/KelvinRiddle/Shop/Product/Product.aspx/Nutrilite-All-Plant-Protein-Powder?itemno=110415) that I purchased from my very own store. I’ve tried plant protein in just water and although it isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever tasted it definitely isn’t the best. That is when the light bulb went off and I decided to browse Pinterest for recipes for homemade protein shakes. That is when I came across this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/93731235973212119/

This banana pudding protein shake above is so yummy!!!! I made mine with half almond milk and half water and I left out the cookies and whipped cream. It was just like drinking banana pudding and this Southern Belle loves banana pudding! I highly recommend it. My 2 year old even enjoyed it! I have a strawberry cheesecake recipe that I will try next and I’m looking forward to it. Protein never tasted so good!
