VSG Pre-Op Diet

Today was the last day eating anything I wanted (well almost….minus anything with gluten thanks to Celiac Disease)with a full stomach. I start my pre-operation diet on tomorrow. The pre-op diet is a two week diet, which according to my hospital, consists of 2 protein shakes/bars a day, one snack, and a low calorie meal. The meal consists of a lean protein and a non-starchy vegetable, and the snack consists of a small fruit/half of cup of fruit, or a low-fat yogurt. I can also have vegetables throughout the day as long as I don’t exceed 800 calories. The purpose of this diet is to shrink the liver to make surgery as safe as possible. I know this will be challenging but I am ready to take on this challenge and succeed because my life depends on it. Wish me luck!
